CAWM2027 will take place November 5-7, 2027 at the Fairmont Chateau Montebello in Montebello, QC and virtually as a hybrid format.

The conference will include 3 days of lectures, a keynote speaker, in-person and hybrid workshops, panel discussions, and social events! The conference will feature a variety of wilderness medicine topics such as search and rescue, frostbite, hypothermia, altitude illnesses, wilderness trauma, and much more! 

CAWM2027 welcomes delegates from various professional backgrounds such as paramedics, nurses, physicians, allied-health professionals, students, academics, SAR volunteers, professional outdoor guides, ski patrol and more!

Pre-conference workshops will take place from November 3-4, including the Canadian Frostbite Symposium on November 4. Lecture recordings will be available to all delegates post conference.

Conference Dates

CAWM2027 will take place November 5-7, 2027 with pre-conference courses and activities occurring November 3-4, 2027. The Canadian Frostbite Symposium will also be taking place on November 4.

CAWM2027 will take place in Montebello, QC at the Fairmont Chateau Montebello as well as streaming virtually.

Hybrid Format

If you cannot attend in person, no problem! The entire conference will stream online with live Q&A available for virtual attendees to participate. Recordings of all lectures will be available to watch on our website post-conference for all attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe the kinds of wilderness medicine which are practiced in Canada
  2. Describe opportunities for physicians, students, volunteers, academics, and other health-care professionals to become involved in practicing wilderness medicine
  3. Recognize the value of training in wilderness medicine and austere medicine, and how skills acquired in this training will translate into their existing practices
  4. Describe the active areas of research in wilderness medicine which are currently being undertaken
  5. Identify the value of inter-professional collaboration within wilderness medicine
  6. Recognize that Canadians are leaders in their field within many areas of wilderness medicine
  7. Understand wilderness medicine specific skills in low resource environments

CME information will be available at a later date.

Historically, CAWM has obtained approved CME for FAWM, CFPC Mainpro+, Alberta Paramedics, and BC Paramedics. General attendance certificates are also available for those wishing to claim with a different professional body (e.g. PA, nurse, etc).

Only individuals registered at the Non-Physician Professional and Physician/Resident levels can claim CME from CAWM2027. Students and Volunteers cannot claim CME; both are eligible to receive "Proof of Attendance" certificates instead.

Information regarding social events will be released at a later date. Social events will take place on Friday and/or Saturday night, November 5th and 6th, 2027.
