The CAWM2026 Conference Planning committee is responsible for the planning, logistics, and communication surrounding the CAWM2026 conference on Sept 11-13, 2026 in Whistler, BC. This 7th annual CAWM conference will be hybrid format (in-person and virtual) with pre-conference courses, lectures, social activities, a keynote speaker, workshops, and more!
Education Committee
Chair: Len James
The Education Committee strives to establish educational opportunities in wilderness medicine within Canada for our members. The Education Committee can have 3 to 8 members, including the Chair or Co-Chairs. Committee members must be active members of CAWM. The Education Committee is chaired or co-chaired by the members of the CAWM Board of Directors.
Chair: Dave Jerome
The Finance and Audit Committee is responsible for overseeing financial planning and reporting, budget development and, if applicable, the audit process. It is chaired by the Board of Directors Treasurer.
Marketing Committee
Chair: Svea Brousseau
The Marketing Committee is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing strategies to promote CAWM, expand our reach, and grow the organization. The goal of the committee is to set a vision and manage the overall marketing strategy of the organization, with the aim to develop strategies that encourage present and future stakeholder involvement and investment in the organization.

The Honours and Awards program was developed to recognize persons within the wilderness medical community with exceptional work and/or care given in the field of wilderness medicine.
Educational Standards
Co-Chairs: Kaileigh Bunting and Courtney Thompson
The Educational Standards Committee has been tasked by the CAWM Board of Directors to create and publish a national set of standards for wilderness medicine courses in Canada. Once these standards are established, CAWM will be involved in reviewing applications from education providers offering these courses for certification that their courses meet the national standards.
Wilderness Medicine Fellowship Development
Chair: Dave Jerome
The Wilderness Medicine Fellowship Development Committee has been tasked by the CAWM Board of Directors with preparing a proposed curriculum for a 1-year Wilderness Medicine Fellowship to be adopted be educational institutions in Canada.
