Military Medicine Interest Group

The Military Medicine Interest Group is composed of physicians (MO), physician assistants (PA), nursing officers (Nurs O), search and rescue technicians (SAR Tech), medical technicians (Med Tech) and medical assistants (Med A). It is a collection of healthcare professionals with specialties in maritime, dive, aviation and austere medicine. The goals of the Military Interest Group is to network, educate, collaborate and provide a platform to encourage a learning environment.

Chair: Eric Paxman

Born in rural AB, Eric took the scenic route through western Canada and attended 8 high schools across 3 provinces. After completing a couple of degrees at the University of Lethbridge and a previous career in fire/EMS, he attended medical school at the UofA and completed a rural residency program through the UofC. Eric joined the CAF in first year medical school as part of the MOTP program, and was posted to 1 Fd Amb in Edmonton where he supported 1VP/3VP for a year prior to being selected for additional training in EM. Eric is excited to do some good work with good people in the Calgary Dept of Emergency Medicine starting this summer, and he will continue his work in ICU, trauma and vascular surgery. Eric's clinical interests include trauma, prehospital medicine, POCUS, and tactical/military/austere care.
