Comité des normes éducatives
Description
The Educational Standards Committee has been tasked by the CAWM Board of Directors to create and publish a national set of standards for wilderness medicine courses in Canada. Once these standards are established, CAWM will be involved in reviewing applications from education providers offering these courses for certification that their courses meet the national standards.
Objectifs
- Créer et publier un programme national standard pour les cours de médecine de la nature au Canada.
- Collaborer avec les prestataires de formation en ce qui concerne le contenu des cours et les certifications.
- Ensure providers are offering courses that meet the national standards
Courtney Thompson - Committee Co-Chair
My name is Courtney Thompson and I'm a rural family medicine and ER physician based on Vancouver Island. I've been involved with wilderness medicine since medical school and have taught many wilderness medical courses over my career. I have my DiMM and work actively in the prehospital/wilderness and mountain setting. I'm currently a ski-hill doc at Mount Washington, a ski patroller at Mount Cain and a medical director/member of the Advanced Medical Team for the Comox Valley SAR. I'm passionate about wilderness medicine education and love the mountains! You can find me chasing my 2 y.o around the bike trails of Cumberland, camping, mountain biking or gravel riding.
