This workshop focuses on the recognition and management of life-threatening hemorrhage that is not treatable with conventional strap style tourniquets. We will focus on how to systematically assess a casualty for massive bleeds, use direct and indirect pressure to help control bleeding emergencies, pack wounds and apply junctional tourniquets, focusing on the abdominal aortic junctional tourniquet (AAJT) and SAM junctional tourniquet.

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

1.  Be able to conduct a quick assessment for massive hemorrhage using the groin/pelvis check then down each leg, then neck, down the arms and axilla approach.
2. Apply specialized tourniquets (AAJT, SAM) to junctional bleeds
3. Apply direct and indirect pressure to wounds
4. Pack wounds effectively
