Description

The Wilderness Nursing Committee at CAWM seeks to explore nursing practice issues in remote and wilderness settings, provide education, outreach, and support. Additionally we aim to connect nurses, students, and other interested providers or groups working in those settings.

Kevin Malone - Committee Co-Chair

BA, RN, BScN
My name is Kevin Malone and I serve as chair of the Canadian Association of Wilderness Medicine Wilderness Nursing Committee. I am a registered nurse with a background in emergency medical services, emergency nursing, and I am currently working in remote and austere settings in Ontario. Furthermore, I participate in the UBC Global Surgery Lab, am a FAWM Candidate, and when not working or helping out on committees, I enjoy hiking, camping, rock climbing, listening to podcasts, reading, and learning how to ice climb.

Svea Brousseau - Committee Co-Chair

RN, BScN
Svea is a Critical Care / Emergency RN from Kelowna ICU and Emergency, now working for rural ICUs and EDs in Northern BC. Svea is also a SAR volunteer. When not at work, she enjoys her home in the Northern Rockies, backcountry skiing and hiking with her dogs, and travelling to places with more mountains.
