Description

The Medical Directors Committee was established to connect persons working or volunteering as a medical director (or under the supervision of a medical director) in order to promote the development of this role in Canada. Currently, medical directors are used by ski patrol, wilderness lodges, Search and Rescue teams, remote race events, national and provincial parks, and many more organizations. A fundamental goal of this committee is to promote collaboration and knowledge sharing amongst medical directors in organizations across Canada in order to enhance low resource/remote prehospital medical care. The Medical Directors committee will work towards developing best practices and/or guidelines for medical directors and how they can be used at different levels within events or organizations as well as determine basic standard training. Questions regarding medical liability are also being examined.

Medical Director Directory

Calling all Medical Directors! The CAWM Medical Director Committee is compiling an inventory of medical directors of all types from across Canada, and we want to hear from you! The goal of this directory is to create a national network of medical directors that promotes communication and collaboration. We also want to support the establishment of future medical directors within various wilderness medicine fields.

We would greatly appreciate it if you were to fill out this short survey to help support the future of wilderness medical directors in Canada.

All medical directors who fill out the survey before June 1, 2022 will be entered to win CAWM merchandise to the value of 50$

Thank you to all directors currently in practice supporting a safe and accessible wilderness!

Please contact medicaldirectors@cawm.ca if you have any questions or comments.
