Description

The CAWM 2021 Conference Planning committee is responsible for the planning, logistics, and communication surrounding the CAWM2021 virtual conference scheduled for Nov 5-7, 2021.  Committee members include board members Alana, Dave, Heather and Mack.  We are so excited to learn, connect, and build on the success of the CAWM2020.  Hopefully we see you there!

Objectives

  1. Organize, promote, and host the CAWM2021 virtual conference
  2. Focus on current wilderness medicine and Canadian-centered content
  3. Connect wilderness medicine learners and providers across Canada and internationally
  4. Promote diversity within CAWM in terms of level of training, educational background, and experience

Alana Hawley - Committee Chair

MD, FRCPC-EM, DiMM, FAWM

Dr. Alana Hawley is an FRCPC Emergency Medicine physician at Penticton Regional Hospital in BC and a Clinical Instructor with UBC.

She is a Wilderness Medicine practitioner, educator, and researcher with several published papers. She completed a Wilderness Medicine fellowship at the University of Utah in 2017. She has the Diploma in Mountain Medicine (DiMM) and Fellowship of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine (FAWM) and she currently serves on the FAWM committee board. She is also the Medical Director of Penticton Search and Rescue.

Personal interests include climbing, diving, mountain biking, skiing, hiking, and mountaineering.
